BusinessInsider je jučer objavio/prenio ovaj fascinantan proljev od članka koji naprosto obožavam:
Old Energy Is Doing Everything It Can To Stop The Rise Of Solar
Toplo preporučam, naprosto je fascinantno kuda će sve otići poremećeni um i kojim se dokazima poslužiti u mobilizaciji svojih sljedbenika. To je prokleta ratna propaganda!
“The government wanted people to be afraid to generate their own energy, but they haven’t dared to actually pass the law,” Alonso said as he tightened screws on the panel on a sunny summer day this month. He had removed solar panels from the roof last year.
“We’re tired of being afraid,” he said.
Mostly energy from solar, wind, and tides is just worthless as in can’t sell it because no one wants to buy it, or even take it for free. Look up the wholesale cost of energy on the US grid — it’s about $0.05 per KWH. So, wind, solar, etc. have to pay their way at THAT price and ALSO be reliable as in four seasons and 24 x 7. Beginning to understand “worthless”?
Or, solar, wind, etc. are unpredictable. So, still need “old energy” for backup, and, really, the “old energy” still needs to have all its infrastructure and capital equipment in place when it rains with low winds, etc., winters, etc. So, build all of “old energy” and then build wind and solar and just turn off some of “old energy” when there is a lot of sun/wind. Meanwhile are still paying for capital and nearly all the operating expense of “old energy” while getting no revenue. Big loss. To be paid for by the customers. With wind, solar forced on us by politics. Bummer.
Solar, wind, tides, etc. COULD be of value IF there was some good means of storing the energy for rains, winters, etc. But, so far, the storage alone costs more than “old energy”.
“Old energy” may be a concocted insult, but the truth is that “old energy” has 100+ years of just brilliant, powerful, valuable science and engineering, including little things like the main reason for the science of thermodynamics.
The reason, the ONLY reason, for interest in solar, wind, etc. is just, JUST, and ONLY government subsidies from scare, flim-flam, fraud, hoax nonsense about “global warming”. To understand, just “follow the money”.
Again, “old energy” is profitable selling power into the electric grid at $0.05 per KWH, and that “old energy” is good 24 x 7 over all four seasons, from northern Canada down to
the US border with Mexico, Wind, solar, etc, need STORAGE which so far alone costs way more than $0.05 per KWH. So, the energy itself from solar, wind, etc. is just worthless on the grid.
Can anything be done with solar, wind, etc. energy? Maybe: Use it to remove salt from ocean water and then store the water. Maybe use it for cheap power (if it is really can be cheap) for making aluminum, steel, or copper — just shut down the metal working when the sun doesn’t shine. I doubt that this would work, but maybe. Maybe use wind and solar for the traditional use of wind energy, as in windmills, for pumping water for drying out reclaimed sea bottom land or providing water for a lake for water for farming. Maybe a few other uses. But for the grid, no hope.
